Recently, at our Cheongdam branch—a hub for those seeking a premium gangnam head spa and hair styling—we have noticed an incredible surge in clients visiting us specifically for professional Korean perms.
This trend isn’t just limited to our local Korean clientele. Because of this high demand, today I would like to introduce a comprehensive transformation journey that combines a specialized gangnam head spa with our signature K-Perm service.
Before we dive into the details of the process, let’s take a look at the “before” photos of our client to understand the starting point of this transformation.
Client Hair & Scalp Analysis
I had a consultation with the client, and she has fine, dry, naturally curly hair. Because of coloring, the dry areas looked even drier, which made the hair appear frizzy, and she was also concerned about the lack of volume.

Recommended Style After Consultation
Through the consultation, I checked the areas the client wanted to focus on and recommended a style that would suit her well!
I suggested the Grace Perm, a design that creates elegant-looking waves with a fuller, softer curl pattern.
We also decided to do a Root Iron Perm to add volume that matches the client’s head shape and facial features.
Preparing for the Spa & Perm Service
The client wanted to maintain her hair length, so I trimmed only the ends where the hair was too light and flyaway. After the spa treatment, we will begin the perm service!
Before starting the spa, we’ll first check the condition of the client’s scalp.
To get a more precise analysis, we’ll use a professional scalp diagnostic device.
After examining the scalp, we could clearly see that oxidized dead skin cells were blocking the pores.
When this happens, it becomes difficult for hair to grow strong from the follicles.
So today, we’ll thoroughly remove those dead skin cells and restore the scalp’s oil–moisture balance to improve the overall scalp condition!

We will use a scalp scaling solution to remove buildup as part of our signature gangnam head spa, and then use the Yume Spa device to help eliminate dead skin cells even more effectively.
This device uses a gentle falling water stream combined with carbonated bubbles to cleanse impurities from the scalp thoroughly during the gangnam head spa process.
After finishing the Yume Spa treatment, we balanced the scalp’s oil and moisture levels with a scalp conditioner, followed by a massage. Then we showed the “after” results once again.
Looking at the scalp again, it has become so clean!!
Even just one session shows noticeable results, but just like any other treatment, regular scalp care makes it even more effective!
Now, let’s move on to the perm!!
Perm Treatment Process
After selecting the perm solution that best suits the hair’s condition, we apply it carefully while considering the overall hair health. Once the solution is applied, we leave it on until the softening process is complete.
Once the softening is complete, we check the hair with a test curl and then move to the shampoo area to rinse it out.
After rinsing, we dry the hair with a blow dryer and begin the root perm right away.
Customized Root Perm for Perfect Volume
A root perm isn’t done the same for everyone — it must be customized to the client’s head shape and facial structure to create the ideal volume they personally need!
Creating the Waves & Setting the Shape
After completing the customized root volume iron perm, we then wind the lower sections of the hair to create full, voluminous waves.
Final Styling & Completed Look
After winding the hair, we apply heat at the appropriate temperature and duration based on the hair’s texture and level of damage. Once it cools, we neutralize the curls — and that completes the process!
The perm turned out beautifully and suits her so well!
After the perm, the client also chose to do a tone-down color, which gave her a more elegant and refined look.
